As all of the members were involved in different projects of various musics, CHIEF formed as another outlet in which to let loose for everyone involved. They began by playing a few of Tishler's songs from his previous bands to get the band to gel with one another, eventually writing some new songs together which took a distinctly more rock and roll direction (a hint of things to come).

This, CHIEF's 2007 eponymous debut, is the result of their early years of getting tight, becoming a powerhouse trio and taking their first foray into recording their rock and roll.
